Google has announced its acquisition of Raxium. It’s a company that creates MicroLED displays and has spent the past 5 years building miniaturized, cost -effective ones that have paved the way for future display technology.

Raxium will join Google’s Devices & Services team and will be tasked with helping its parent company further its goal of building helpful devices and services. The Search giant also believes that the company’s technical expertise will help it expand its hardware efforts.

We don’t have a clear picture of what Google’s plans are with Raxium. But it could be snapping up such companies in the hopes of being less reliant on third party vendors for important hardware. Apple is a prime example of how well a company can develop products due to self-sufficiency. This could mean that others, like Google are following suit.
