LG showed off a new washer and dryer pair at CES 2022 that not only communicate with each other but use AI Direct Drive technology to make the act of washing and drying clothes, more efficient. The pair can sense the load size, fabric type and level soiling of a clothing article, then automatically adds the appropriate amount of detergent and sets the washing style for optimized cleaning.

The appliances use LG’s new steam technology that is supposed to be an effective way of getting clothes clean and refreshed. The Smar Pairing feature lets the washer and dryer to communicate with each other to figure out the best drying cycle needed for an optimal cleaning cycle.

AI DD tech on the dryer helps with precise movement control and automatically decides the appropriate settings needed for fabric care and faster drying times. In addition to this, the AI allows the machine to learn a user’s laundry routine and preferences, then delivers a tailored drying option.

An infrared sensor measures the temperature of clothes during the drying cycle. Then adjustments are made automatically to ensure even drying of the apparel. Through the use of the Bluetooth pairing feature, a user can control booth appliances from the washing machine’s control panel.

Besides these appliances, LG also showcased a WashTower with Dual Heat Pump dryer. It’s alternative to a conventional wash-dyer stack. The front lading washing machine uses AI DD to provide proper cleaning of clothes while the dryer tries to reduce energy consumption by drying in a low temperature through the drying cycle.

The WashTower features black tinted-glass doors, decorative chrome elements and Black Steel finish for excellent durability with high resistance to scratching. If you’d like to learn more about these appliances visit LG’s virtual exhibition booth at CES 2022.
