Lotus has released a new video of its new Emira sports car being put through its paces by Gavan Kershaw. Kershaw, Director, Attributes & Product Integrity, Lotus Cars, leads the development of every car that rolls out of the facility at Hethel.

Speaking of the Emira, Kershaw, says, “with the 3.5-litre V6 configuration and the supercharger, you start an acceleration from as low as 1,500rpm and the car just pulls and pulls and pulls, getting stronger and stronger as the revs increase. This is what a real sports car feels like.”

Since the days of Colin Chapman, Lotus has prioritized driving enjoyment over raw horsepower. Its cars are built to handle like an extension of the driver instead of a ballast weighing him/her down. The Emira, though far removed from its early predecessors, still has four different driving modes.

Tour allows for maximum stability and control, Sport increases body slip and throttle response, Race improves on that and brings up a revised instrument cluster. However, if that still isn’t enough the driver can select fully off, where the stability control is disengaged, completely.

Kershaw believes that the entire package is tuned to give drivers maxim reward and confidence. The Emira in essence is made for drivers.
