Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, A Must Have For Sim Enthusiasts

Microsoft Flight Simulator is back, after a 38-year hiatus. The original garnered a cult following over the years, and despite the absence of official support, spawned an era cof communoty deeloped that introduced new aircraft and airport models as well as custom scenarios. The company did lend a hand by making the SDK available to the public.

Now, to outdo the original, Microsoft had to pull out all the stops. And indeed it did. The new game features Azure AI cloud physics and 3D mapping produced by Bing maps. The more than 2PB (petabyte) or 2,000,000GB, was pooled to provide the game with a new level of realism, accuracy and authenticity.

The game also has a fully redesigned weather and lighting system. The terrain and weather data that was acquired allowed Microsoft to simulate forces that would impact an aircraft during flight. And as such, the game has a redesigned aerodynamics model for aircraft to utilize. There are 30 different aircraft to choose from; single engine turbo props to jet airliners.

That’s not all, further improvements are coming as Microsoft will continue to update the game with free world updates, themed DLC bundles, VR and several others. It’s astonishing to learn, that the new game actually started out life as a demo of Machu Picchu in augmented reality for the Microsoft HoloLens.

Microsoft even worked with pilots and engineers from different aircraft manufacturers during the development process. It also built an alpha program to get direct input from fans. Admittedly, a great deal of effort was poured into the new release, which is currently being played all over the world.

The game is available now on Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta), Windows 10 PC and Steam. On the Microsoft Store, it can be purchased for $59.99 (RM234.00) (standard), $89.99 (RM350.00)(deluxe) and $119.99 (RM465.00) (premium deluxe).
