Shopping for clothes that fit properly can be an extremely taxing affair. Besides having to compete with other shoppers in frantically rifling through bins for what you want, finding something in the right color that fits, can be equally arduous. Now that the pandemic has made a mess of everything, shopping has become far more difficult.

But what if that tedium could be done away with altogether? That is what 3DLOOK is trying to achieve with its YourFit platform. It offers a photorealistic virtual try-on functionality with data-driven size recommendations. This means that it helps shoppers try-on clothing virtually, and inform them of the sizes that fit best.

Unlike conventional shopping systems that overlay apparel over a shopper’s photo, YourFit accurately reproduces a shopper’s body measurements in a realistic way. Companies who want to include 3DLOOK’s system in their shopping catalog can opt for a complete solution or choose try-on or size and fit recommendations.

The software is able to take a photo and extract information on body contour, shape and position. It then creates an accurate 3D avatar of said person. It can even detect specific body parts such as head, neck, shoulders, forearm and ankles as well as haircut and skin tone, which are superimposed on said avatar.

It then uses photos of clothes a person would like to try on to create a 3D version of them, which can then be used on said 3D avatar. This happens in real time, allowing shoppers to pick and choose the apparel that suits them best. The shopper’s body data is also matched with available product data to recommend the best sizes available.

“With the launch of YourFit, we’re taking another significant step in e-commerce personalization and enabling a superior shopping experience that is the first of its kind,” said Vadim Rogovskiy, CEO and co-founder of 3DLOOK.

3DLOOK’s tech relies on techniques taken from computer vision and graphics. Each component has been trained with images or scans of up to 100,000+ real and simulated individuals. The company is very confident in it’s system’s reliability that it claims that the tech will work with older smartphones and with any camera.

The same is true of retailers clothing lines. The software is able to use photos from a brand’s product pages to accurately create 3D versions. This dramatically reduces the time and resources needed for an outlet to deploy the software for consumers to use.

If a user wants to use YourFit for a supported online site, said person needs to choose an item of clothing then click on the widget on a product page. They will be guided through a scanning process with the use of their smartphone camera. The backend software then goes to work to create an accurate 3D representation of said person.

This technology may prove to be a Godsend for many shoppers. Instead of having to plan their shopping trips, one could binge shop from their living room. In fact, brands who use 3DLOOK’s system have reported a 48% decrease in return rate – significant change by anyone’s standards.
