Hot on the heels of the announcement of Android 12 Developer Preview Program at the Google I/O Developer Conference 2021, OPPO also announced its availability for developers on its Find X3 Pro. Called the ColorOS Developer Preview, it is meant to give app developers and other software entities early access to the upcoming OS to familiarise themselves with it and help sort underlying problems.

Android 12 has an improved system UI with greater emphasis placed on security and privacy features compared to previous versions. These will also be the core principles of ColorOS, which is OPPO’s repackaged version of Android. the company aims to use the new update to make its OS more intuitive, responsive and a system that allows for more personalization in terms of UI and UX.

The company also wants to give users more control and transparency regarding data security and privacy, which are traits usually associated with Apple and iOS. But with Android 12, that is about to change because users can now grant approximate location to apps, block the use of the camera and microphone in quick settings, and put inactive applications that haven’t been in use for over 90 days in hibernation.

Besides this, there will also be more compatibility with media formats and content insertion. The UI will get new functional bars and operating modes. Apps will also be able to provide audio-coupled haptic feedback through the phone’s vibrations. Besides this, there are several other features to explore, which is why OPPO wants developers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China and Taiwan markets to download the new developer preview via the OPPO open Platform system starting May 19.

Please keep in mind that the Developer Preview is not ready for general use. It may still contain bugs and stability issues that need to be ironed out. It shouldn’t be used for testing purposes only and not as a replacement for a user’s current Android operating system.
