Samsung Galaxy A22 & A22 5G: What’s The Difference?

Samsung is going “all in” on the 5G craze by introducing a 5G variant of each new device. The A22 is a prime example of this move. Launched along this budget-friendly device is the A22 5G, a spitting image of the former but with a larger display, more RAM and slightly heavier body at 203g.

Both phones still have the aging teardrop display, but the A22 gets a 90Hz AMOLED panel while the more capable A22 5G gets a TFT infinity-V unit. It’s a surprising move, especially since the 5G variant does seem to be the superior device due to an extra helping of RAM (8GB instead of only 6GB with A22) and its FHD+ resolution.

The disparity between the two doesn’t end there. The A22 edges out the A22 5G in the camera department as well because it has an 8MP ultra wide sensor instead of the latter’s 5MP one in addition to the 2MP macro unit. It’s selfie camera is 13MP, whereas the A22 5G only gets an 8MP one.

Thankfully, both phones get a 5,000mAh battery and support 15W fast charging. This means that both phones should have enough juice to last for an entire day. In recent years Samsung has become very generous with battery capacity. It’s allowing its lower tier phones to have larger batteries than their predecessors. Let’s hope that t stays that way.
