Samsung Galaxy A04s: Budget-Friendly Phone With 90Hz Display
September 4, 2022Samsung’s latest budget phone aims to please bargain hunters with the promise of delivering a decent smartphone experience without breaking the bank. It retains the same look and feel of its predecessor but now, the teardrop, 6.5-inch HD+ display gains a 90Hz refresh rate. This should make the UI feel snappier and better suited to quick swipes.

The bezels and chin are still very visible as was the case with the A03s. Understandably, it will probably take more time before the higher-end punch hole displays trickle down to the more wallet friendly devices like the A04s. That said, the new phone gets a hardware bump in the camera department. It has a 50MP main camera instead of its predecessor’s 13MP unit.
It’s able to go down to F1.8, which should help users capture brighter photos. This could prove valuable when taking shots in ill lit areas or at night. That said, we would like to reserve judgment until we are fully able to test this out for ourselves.
This is a decent improvement for a model that used to be sidelined when it came to photo taking abilities. Granted, the 50MP isn’t going to help it win any awards, but at least users will have a fighting chance of capturing shots that are usable on social media. Besides the main shooter, the A04s also has a 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.
Samsung says that the phone is powered by an Octa-core chip, presumably the Exynos 850. Unfortunately, the phone has to make do with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage space. That might be a deal breaker for some folks but the consolation is that you can use a microSD card (up to 1TB is supported) to supplement the limited storage space.
The phone is protected by Samsung Knox security, which should offer some reassurance to users who want to keep that data safe. If you’d like to know more about how Knox does this, click on this link.
Carrying on with tradition, the phone has a sizable 5,000mAh battery, which should provide more than a day’s worth of use on a single charge. Like its predecessor it should support 15W fast charging. The A04s also has a fingerprint sensor to authenticate user unlock attempts. This is a physical sensor instead of an under screen one, seen on more expensive devices.
There’s no news yet on pricing but the phone will be made available to purchase in Copper, Green, Black and White. Stay tuned and we will let you know more as soon as we find out.
