Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Launched: Leans On AI

Samsung has launched this year’s flagship devices: the S24 Ultra, S24+ and S24. Sporting an improved titanium frame, Corning Gorilla Glass Armor, and AI tech, the company is hoping to leapfrog the competition and cementing it’s phones as the best Android has to offer.

Visually, the Korean giant has chosen to take a subtle approach, resulting rather similar contours, curves and sheen reminiscent of last year’s models. Screen sizes remain unchanged from last year with the S24 Ultra featuring a 6.8-inch LTPO unit, the S23+ gets a 6.7-inch and the S24 utilizes a 6.2-inch screen. All three models get a variable, adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz.

All the phones are equipped with the latest gen processor, but the S24 Ultra gets a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. It’s especially optimsed for the flagship device to deliver NPU improvement for better AI processing. The Ultra also gets a vapour chamber that’s 1.9 times larger than its predecessor for better thermal management.

The Ultra also gets a Quad Tele Lens system that offers 5x optical zoom and works with the 50MP sensor that lets you zoom with the help of Adaptive Pixel Sensor that allows for a 100x digital zoom. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s larger pixel size, now 1.4 μ m, which is 60% bigger than before. There’s also a wider optical image stabilizer for reduced blur and better compensation for hand shake.

AI Technology
The ProVisual Engine harnesses the power of AI to allow you to capture better pictures with less glare and reflections as well as offer the ability to remove distractions and enhance the view of the subject. The idea here is that you can use its available tools to make adjustments to your media instead of having to lean on a professional editor or complicated/expensive software to do it for you.

Live Translate lets users of the new Ultra to call and converse with the person on the end who doesn’t speak the same language. Once its enabled, the phone will display what’s spoken verbally as chats between you and the caller. As you continue to converse, the chat builds with what’s been said. Each response is spoken aloud by the translation software.

Though not fully polished, it makes things a lot easier for travelers or people who have the need to speak with someone from another country who doesn’t understand their language. In addition to this, Chat Assist does a similar service but does so by taking into account the tone you’d like to use at a particular time. This AI is built into the Samsung keyboard and works with Android Auto. When in your car, it can summarize incoming messages and suggest relevant replies and actions.

Note Assist, lets’ the phone transcribe your notes into actual texts, summarize and translate them to another language. The software also provides several templates that can be used based on one’s preference. This can all be done in real time and with very little processing time. This should prove helpful to users who constantly jot things down on their phones that can be used at a later time.

Transcribe Assist uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize and translate your recordings. That said, we will need to thoroughly test this feature to gauge its usability in real life conditions.

Circle to Search harnesses the power of Google’s search engine to look up content that’s on your screen. With a long press on the home button, they can circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap on anything on the screen to have the phone look up relevant search results from across the web.
