Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S25 Series devices, and they are built upon the successes of their predecessors. This year, the phones are an incremental upgrade over the phones they replace with a bump in performance, more polished design and software that leans a little more on AI thanks to on device computing.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra has the same 6.9-inch screen as its predecessor, which is an amazing display, but now it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Armor 2. It’s supposed to be the first scratch resistant, anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material fitted to a mobile device.

The company says that it’s more durable than the first gen Armor, allowing it to survive drops of up 2.2 meters on concrete surfaces without suffering any damage. The material has been made tougher without comprising on overall clarity, so you’ll still get the vivid look expected of Samsung’s AMOLED screens.

In terms of other hardware options, the phone does get a slight bump in the camera department with a jump from 12MP to 50MP for its ultrawide lens. But other than that, everything else remains unchanged.

Samsung has given the phone a titanium body with rounded edges, which makes it a much tougher device than the S24 Ultra and one that is easier to hold as well. It can be ordered in either a 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage options. Colour options include Silverblue, Gray, Whitesilver and Black. Jadegreen, Pinkgold and Jectblack are available when purchasing it online.

The smaller S25+ and S25 seem a bit more polished than the phones they replace and are available in Navy, Ocyblue, Mint and Silver Shadow. If you purchase the phone online, you could get one in Blueblack, Coralred and Pinkgold.

All three phones get the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is a tweaked version of the vanilla one of its namesake. Samsung has made a custom to optimise the chipsets that it puts into its flagship devices each year. It offers a performance boost of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU and 30% in GPU compared to the outgoing models.

This added performance allows the phones to process more AI computational tasks on-device without affecting overall performance. It’s a substantial change compared to last year’s device which relied on cloud-based AI for tasks like generative edit.

ProScaler now has a more advanced and efficient AI image processing system, which allows for a 40% improvement in display image scaling quality. This helps make content sharper in real time for a better viewing experience.

In recording, 10-bit HDR is applied as default, which offers four times richer color expression compared to 8-bit. This allows the phone to capture more details in any lighting conditions. Low-light performance has improved as well because they are now able to analyze movement and time to reduce noise more effectively.

Audio Eraser removes unwanted noise in videos by isolating categories of sounds including voices, music, wind, nature, crowd, and noise. You can control what to tone down or eliminate entirely.

Portrait Studio has also been enhanced to allow you to create personalized avatars with more realistic facial expressions. Filters introduces new analog-style filters, delivering film-like aesthetics for photos and videos.

Prices for the Galaxy S25 and S25+ start at RM3,999 and RM4,999 respectively for the 256GB storage option and RM4,599 and RM5,599 for the 512GB option, respectively. For the Ultra, prices start at RM5,999 for the 256GB model while the 512GB and 1TB options are priced at RM6,599 and RM7,799 respectively.
