Sony DualShock4 gets a button companion
December 18, 2019 Off By Naveen VictorSony’s new accessory for the DualShock 4 controller aims to improve gaming performance with programmable buttons. It’s a back button attachment that consists of an elongated bar mounted to a cylindrical structure ,which attaches to the rear of the PlayStation controller.
The reasoning behind creating such a device, is, providing gamers with an advantage by giving them more control buttons for better flexibility to increase competitiveness. The two back buttons can map up to 16 different actions, which include triangle, circle, R1 and R2.
The cylindrical structure, houses an OLED display that provides real time information for button assignments. A dedicated button allows users to remap back button inputs on the fly, allowing gamers better convenience during a session. Also, it allows for up to three different button profiles.
According to Sony, this accessory will work well with all PlayStation 4 and VR titles and was built with the ergonomics of the DS4 in mind. The Back Button Attachment will be launched in the US and Canada on January 23, 2020 for SRP $29.99 USD, $39.99 CAD.
