TIME Magazine Calls Galaxy Z Flip3 One Of Best Inventions of 2021

Folding phones are the future because of one simple fact – they address a fatal flaw of the smartphone – size. For a phone to be useful, it needs to have a substantially large screen that is between 6.5-6.9 inches. Any smaller and productivity becomes an issue and if it approaches the other extreme, inconvenient to carry. Phones like the Galaxy Z Flip3 get around this problem through the use of a folding screen and clever hinge mechanism.

It proves unequivocally that you can have your cake and eat it at the same time. It’s made such an impact that TIME Magazine has named it one of “The 100 Best Inventions of 2021”. This is a commendable achievement, and is one that will pave the way for an interesting future.

Speaking of the phone TIME Magazine said:

“The Z Flip is as compact as devices from two decades ago, only instead of a tiny display and physical dial pad, you get a vibrant 6.7-in. display, with another screen on the front cover so you can easily read messages or screen calls when it’s closed. Even better: the $999 price tag, making it the first mainstream phone with a foldable display that’s priced below $1,000.”

What makes the Z Flip3 “extra” special is that it brings back a sense of nostalgia associated with flip phones of the 1990s. Samsung’s engineers took a concept that was several decades old, and fused it with a cutting-edge tech. Thus, it’s extremely portable and convenient to carry on one’s person. In addition to this, folding the screen unlocks features like flex mode that may be useful for a few applications.

Users have a choice of using either the selfie camera or the main rear cameras to capture photos. The Cover Screen, which is four times larger than the original, serves several different roles from viewfinder for selfies to playing animated wallpapers that match the Galaxy Watch4. The speakers support Dolby Atmos, so they sound a little better than the run-off-the-mill phone.

The Dynamic AMOLED 2x display may not be as rigid as that of traditional smartphone screens, but is good enough for what it is. The overall construction is a marked improvement over the original Fold. That said, the crease is still visible is you’re looking directly at it.
