What Makes The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra The Best Phone So Far

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has won over many fans especially those belonging to the Galaxy Note community. This phone combines two separate devices, the S and Note Series, making it more unique than its predecessors. With the exception of its name, the phone differs greatly from its lesser siblings.
The Galaxy S22 series represents Samsung’s next step in the company’s sustainability journey to deliver tangible action across the MX Business.
Among these measures are increasing the use of recycled materials, reducing standby power, eliminating single-use plastic from packaging, and diverting all waste from landfills by 2025.
It’s All About The Pen
The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ therefore you don’t have to worry about placing it in a handbag or backpack and worry about its contents scuffing the surface.
With the 6.8-inch screen, you will enjoy watching your favorite shows or playing the best games. For me, I get the most use out of this phone while sitting in
a cafe and getting some work done through the use of the S Pen.
Approximately 0.7mm in diameter, the S Pen’s tip is about the same width as a ballpoint pen. It is excellent for sketching or doodling because of its good control and feel. Despite the sides being a little squarish, you’ll adapt to the dimensions fairly quickly. The S Pen is an active one, which means it connects and communicates via Bluetooth to enable active pen functions.
Besides doodling or sketching, I can use the S-Pen to jot down notes, crop an area with Smart Select, use Screen Write and other S-Pen related apps. If you would like to know more about what you can do with the S Pen, check out our article here Power of the S Pen
The Performance
There’s no question that the S22 Ultra is the most powerful phone that Samsung makes. It’s powered by the Exynos 2200 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in certain markets), which is a 4nm chipset, yet is more powerful than the Exynos 2100. It has one ARM Cortex-X2 high-performance core, three Cortex-A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores.

In addition to this, the S22 Ultra has received One UI 5 which allows me to customize the mobile experience even further. The look and feel are made to fit with your current wallpaper and color combinations. Besides this, Bixby Routines uses machine intelligence to learn your usage patterns and preferences. It can then use this to automatically adjust settings, control apps, optimize the battery, and much more.
The Camera Features
At the rear, there’s not three but four cameras: 108MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, two 10MP telephoto sensors and a 40MP selfie camera. The ultra-wide and telephoto lenses play their part in scenarios where there’s a greater need for a wider field of view or further focal length.
In my experience, the speedy CPU performance is matched by incredibly adept camera hardware. Though not a direct replacement for an actual DSLR, the quality of photos that it can capture comes quite close to the real thing. Instead of having to carry a bulky camera around, the S22 Ultra is more than enough to serve as a stand in for when convenience and practicality are of the essence.
This is due in part to the post processing work done by the phone’s clever software. Instead of having to fiddle about with the camera settings, it works with the sensors behind the scenes to capture the best shots possible. All you have to do is point it in the right direction and click the shutter button.

The S22 Ultra has helped me in many ways, especially the part where I can zoom in to snap photos without any noise or pixelation. Besides that, I don’t need to worry about poor ambient lighting because the AI software helps fine-tune the settings to achieve the intended results. No post-adjustments are needed.

Besides using it for work, I depend on the phone to take scenic shots when I’m strolling in the park. It’s so handy to be able to capture something so beautiful even though you are in an ill-light area.

For videos, optical image stabilization works well to keep footage stabilized regardless of how aggressive your movements are at times. This proves useful for action shots or other scenes where there’s a lot going on and there’s very little time for you to react.

Battery Life
With light to medium use, the 5000mAh battery should last for slightly more than a day. This is possible if the phone is only used for calls, social media posts and minimum photography work. But with heavier usage, especially when multi-tasking across various apps and constantly using the camera functions, I was able to make it to the end of each day with 15% residual charge.
Believe it or not, it is still possible to get this same battery performance even after a full year’s worth of abuse. The battery is still good enough to help me get work done. This isn’t something you could say about previous generation Galaxy S phones. The software and hardware are able to work better together to preserve battery health for as long as possible.

Is it worth the money to own the S22 Ultra?
With Samsung DeX, you can use your Galaxy S22 Ultra as a pseudo-PC by connecting it to a monitor or TV either with a wired connection or wirelessly. Through the use of Miracast, you are also able to cast content to an external display.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is Samsung’s best phone yet, which is why I am intrigued to know: What’s next? Will the Samsung S23 be able to one up this flagship for 2023 or have we already reached peak smartphone?
Catch the live launch event of the S23 series on 2nd February at 02:00AM Malaysian Time (1st Feb, 10PM PST). The event will be streamed live onSamsung Malaysia YouTube, Samsung Malaysia Official Website, Samsung Malaysia Facebook and Samsung Malaysia Newsroom.
