Xiaomi has announced two upcoming devices at Qualcomm’s Tech Summit 2019, which is currently taking place in Hawaii. The first, is news of its next generation flagship smartphone. Called the Mi 10, the device will feature a Snapdragon 865 chip with 5G connectivity.

This halo phone will be launched sometime in the first quarter of next year, and will be one of the first to feature Qualcomm’s state-of-the-art chipset. In addition to this, Xiaomi has also revealed its lofty goals of promoting development and production of 5G mobile phones. At the very same event, the company revealed its plans to launch more than 10 5G-enabled phones in 2020.

But, on the 10th of this month, the Chinese manufacturer will be launching the Redmi K30 that will feature a Snapdragon 765 chip with 5G support. This indicates that Xiaomi has readily accepted Qualcomm’s latest offerings and is cramming them into as many of its phones as it deems possible.

That said, the most interesting information from Xiaomi at the event, has less to do with smartphones and more on the facility that makes them. Construction on Xiaomi’s new factory in Beijing, is nearing completion. It will be operational by the end of December and will feature cutting-edge tech that include automated production lines, robots and cloud service platforms.

Xiaomi says that the facility is capable of churning out 60 smartphone per minute, and is said to be 60% more efficient than traditional factories.
