Phone screen technology has hit a brick wall – and it pertains to the front camera. No matter how thin the bezels become or how curved displays get, the inability to mask the front camera, spoils the entire look of modern smartphones. Well, come September 1st, that might change.

ZTE has announced that it will unveil the world’s first ever mass-produced phone with an under-display camera. The Chinese company released a teaser image that portrays an almost bezeless phone display devoid of notches or holes. It has an extremely clean look, one that could place ZTE in a very good position in terms of market share.

ZTE Axon 20 5G

The device is called the ZTE Axon 20 5G and it will be launched in China on September 1st. This could be a region specific phone, but we will only know for sure on launch day. ZTE isn’t a newcomer to this space though, because it previously launched a foldable dual screen phone and one with a ‘naked eye’ 3D display.

ZTE hopes that this new 5G phone will pave the way for development of more advanced displays. At the moment, the company is keeping mum on the intricate details of its upcoming smartphone. So, stay tuned on September 1st, for more details.
