Apple’s new Airpods Pro, the talk of the town since its launch, wasn’t built with repairability in mind. iFixit, the company that specializes in gadget teardowns and step-by-step guides for their repair, has taken a crack at disassembling Cupertino’s latest wearable.

The complete process was documented in the video below that can also be viewed on the company’s Youtube channel. A score between 0 to 10 is given to each gadget after the respective teardown, to denote the difficulty of its repair.

This repair index, gauges the difficulty rating for repairability, the higher the number, the easier it is to repair said device. Most modern devices receive a mid range score. Unsurprisingly, and like several other Apple products, the Airpods Pro didn’t fair well. but unlike these other devices, it scored a 0. Yes, iFixit says its futile to try and repair this gizmo.

The entire product was taken apart, leaving nothing to our imagination. And though the device’s internal bits are impressive, they weren’t designed for disassembly. So, if your Airpods Pro meets its untimely demise at some point, it would be best that you toss it aside instead of attempting to mend what’s broken.

But taken for what it is, the Airpods Pro is an incredible device, lauded lavishly by media outlets and tech Youtubers alike. The earphones are extremely compact yet, come with decent sound quality and active noise cancellation. There’s also a transparency mode, which once selected, allows ambient sounds into your ears, which will help keep you aware of your surroundings.
