Despite offering millions of free shows on Apple Podcasts, Apple Podcasts Subscriptions offers listeners a global marketplace where they can discover premium subscriptions of their favorite podcast creators. In May, listeners in more than 170 countries will have the opportunity to sign up for a Premium Subscription that includes a variety of benefits.

Subscribers will be able to enjoy subscriptions from the likes of Tenderfoot TV, Pushkin Industries, Radiotopia from PRX, QCODE, and to many other brands, such as the Los Angeles Times, The Athletic, Sony Music Entertainment, and many more.

“Fifteen years ago, Apple created the mainstream for podcasts, offering hundreds of millions of listeners a platform to exchange information, entertain, and inspire,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Software and Services.

He added, “As a leader in the podcasting industry, Apple Podcasts Subscriptions sets a new standard for Podcast listening packages. The platform will be unveiled to creators around the world next month, and we look forward to seeing what new things they make with it.”

In addition, next month, listeners will be able to explore channels, which are collections of shows created by different creators, with different genres, titles, and cover photos. In addition to finding more of the shows they want to watch, listeners will also be able to browse free channels.

With the new iOS 14.5, Apple Podcasts users will have access to a redesigned app featuring an improved Search screen that offers quick access to Top Charts and categories. The new Smart Play button helps listeners automatically begin episodes from where they left off.

Individual episodes can also now be saved for offline playback, which is useful for bookmarking podcasts for later listening from Library.

Apple Podcasts for Creators website guides creators through the podcasting process, to keep them informed about the latest news and features, as well as explore in-depth guides and best practices.

Apple Podcasts Connect makers can access an updated dashboard that includes features that make it easier to manage shows on Apple Podcasts, including editing metadata, scheduling and managing show availability, organizing shows into channels, managing multiple users and roles, and monitoring listener engagement with your podcasts.

Apple Podcasts Connect gives creators access to the new Apple Podcaster’s Program, providing access to all the tools they need to create and distribute premium subscription content on their site.
