BMW Expands Malaysian Range With M340i xDrive & 330Li M Sport

BMW has expanded its 3 Series line-up with the introduction of the M340i xDrive and 330Li M Sport. The new additions enable the model range to meet growing and diverse needs of customers. These cars feature a refreshed exterior and redesigned interior.

The M340i xDrive gets a redesigned front section meant to be more expressive in comparison to its predecessor. There’s a distinctive hexagonal Kidney grille, adaptive LED headlights with High-Beam Assistant, M exterior mirrors, 19-inch M Light Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style 791 M Bicolour and M Sport Brakes in Blue High-Gloss.

At the rear, there’s the M Rear-Spoiler free-form design exhaust tips, which is also available on the 330Li M Sport. Fitted as standard for both models are the M Aerodynamics Package and M High-Gloss Shadowline.

As for the BMW 330Li M Sport, it’s been given subtle tweaks that include slimmed-down LED headlights with daytime running light graphics and supported by the High-Beam Assistant. The car is about 110mm longer than the 330i M Sport at 4,823mm long and with a wheelbase of 2,961mm. It sits on 18-inch M Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style in 848 M Bicolour.

If you opt for the M Sport Pro variant of the M340i xDrive, it will come with exterior features that are little more experience of the vehicle’s driving dynamics. The package includes:

  • 19-inch M Light Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style 792 M Bicolour Jet Black
  • M lights Shadowline

    M Sport brake callipers in High-Gloss Red

    M High-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents

    Kidney grille frame and slats in High-Gloss Black

    M Rear Spoiler in Black Sapphire

Both cars get BMW’s 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch touchscreen control display that provide key data and access to basic vehicle functions. The center console has been designed to offer an uncluttered layout and minimalist toggle style gear selector.

Interior
BMW has given the M340i xDrive sports seats for both the driver and front passenger. However, only the driver’s side gets the electric seat adjustment and memory function. Provided as standard is the hand-stitched M Leather Steering Wheel wrapped in Walknappa leather, M Headliner Antracite and and Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim.

Besides this, the car also gets Storage Compartment Package, automatic air conditioning, ambient light, interior rear-view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function and electric glass roof have been included as standard. If you opt for the M Sport package Pro, there’s the M colour-lined M seat belts. For audio, there’s the Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.

The 330Li M Sport model’s driver seat also comes with electric seat adjustment with memory function. Its interior receives a combination of Back High-Gloss/Aluminium, Galvanic embellishers for the controls, Instrument Panel in Sensatec and a panorama glass roof as standard. For extra “sportiness” there’s the M Leather Steering Wheel and M Headliner Anthracite.

Besides this, the car also gets the Storage Compartment Package, three-zone automatic air conditioning, ambient light and interior rear-view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function. Unlike the M340i M xDrive, the 330Li M Sport has a HiFi sound system.

Performance
The M340i M xDrive has a straight-six-cylinder petrol engine and it’s mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. As such, it produces 387hp and 500Nm of torque, which is enough to let it go from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The 330Li M Sport on the other hand is powered by a four-cylinder engine that’s mated to the same 8-speed transmission as the M340i M xDrive.

It produces 258hp and 400Nm of torque, which allows it to go from 0-100km/h in just 6.2 seconds. Both cars have their top speed limited to 250km/h. In terms of suspension, the 330Li M Sport is equipped with comfort suspension while the BMW M340i xDrive gets the M Sport Differential, Adaptive M Suspension and Variable Sport Steering.

Infotainment and Safety Features
Both cars get the BMW Head-Up Display, which uses the latest Operating System 8. This allows for interactions for touchscreen operations via the UI, voice input via the BMW intelligent Personal Assistant, iDrive Controller and the touch-only direct access controls.

Other worthy mentions include support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices and ConnectedDrive Services. Parking Assistant and Driving Assistant comes as standard.

The cars also have the camera and ultrasound-based Parking Assistant is inclusive of Park Assist, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Lateral Parking Aid and Reversing Assist Camera. The Reversing Assistant keeps record of up to the last 50 metres driven forward and can reverse to the exact same distance.

When it comes to the camera and radar-based driving assistant, the standard features are Lane Departure Warning with active steering interventions, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Speed Limit Info and manual Speed Limit Assist. Additionally, Cruise Control with Braking Function
