There are a plethora of cheap, wireless mice on the market, but in my experience none of them offer the same versatility as CLiPtec’s RZS611 rechargeable mouse. At 120(L) x 70(W) x 35(H) mm, it’s larger than most budget mice and is perfect for users with larger hands. Nothing could be more irritating than having to use one that barely covers your palm.
The build quality isn’t anything to write home about. It’s constructed from cheap plastic materials that tend to show signs of wear after several months of use. But it is also contributes toward the mouse’s lightweight properties. Weighing just 50g, the RZS611, is contoured to allow your thumb and palm to rest on its grooved sides for a firmer grip.
On the left side, are two buttons that can be used to go forward or back on your web browser. The mouse doesn’t come with its own software, so there’s no way of changing said functions. Below the scroll wheel is another button that allows users to adjust the mouse’s speed sensitivity between 800/dpi/1200dpi/1600dpi.
The switch on the bottom has three functions: OFF, ON and ON with LEDs. That’s right, it has lighting effects to appeal to gamers who are on a tight budget. Its multi-colour leds shine through the translucent section of its design pattern and lettering. It has an appealing look to it, something that isn’t often uttered at this end of the market segment.
Most mice of its ilk don’t have this much to offer. But the RZS611 seems to be in a different league. The charging connector is placed below the left and right buttons, and is used to charge the internal 300mAh lithium polymer battery. The LEDs will let you know when the battery is depleted. And even while charging, the mouse can still function normally.
Now Cliptec says that you should be able to get 70 hours of use from a single charge. It’s difficult to attest to this metric, due to my various work patterns. On average, I consistently got about 4 weeks of use out of it. Over time, the lifespan gradually diminishes but not by much. I’ve had the RZS611 for about two years and have not noticed a significant drop in battery life.
It communicates with your PC through a 2.4Ghz wireless dongle that has a receiving range of about 10m. Latency is negligible for general usage. It’s no substitute for a proper gaming mouse, but having gamed with it on multiple occasions, I can safely say that the RZS611 is fine for non-competitive gaming sessions.
The RZS611 comes in black and grey. Choosing between them is a matter of preference but I would advise against purchasing the latter due to the aforementioned wear issues. Over time, it tends to look a little unpleasant, which is something mice from Razer and Logitech aren’t susceptible to. But for RM29.90, we can look past this shortcoming.
Overall, the Cliptec RZS611 is a good budget mouse for anyone, especially users who have larger hands. There’s no need to worry about having batteries on hand or having to wait between charging sessions to use it. It’s one of those gadgets that can be used and abused for years without having to worry about ruining it.
