Honda’s All-New HR-V Is Now Available In Malaysia
July 14, 2022Honda Malaysia has officially released the all-new HR-V for the local market. The new “hip’ crossover features a brand-new look that includes a prominent front grille, front LED headlights with DRLs, sequential LED turn signals as well as impressive LED tail light strips.
The new HR-V is being made available to purchase in four trim levels: 1.5L e:HEV RS, 1.5L V, 1.5L E and 1.5L S. Just as the name suggests, all variants come equipped with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine. However, the e:HEV RS is has a 2-motor hybrid system, which when combined with the petrol engine, generates nearly 131HP and 253Nm of torque.
Both V and L variants get a 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC engine generating close to 181HP and 240Nm of torque. The S variant gets a normally aspirated 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces close to 121HP and 145Nm of torque. Only the RS, V and E variants have three drive modes: Normal, Sport and ECON.
But what sets the RS variant apart from the other three is the leather upholstery, Sports Pedals, Dual Zone Auto Air Conditioning and Deceleration Selector Paddle. In addition to this, it also gets a Hands-Free Power Tailgate with Walkaway Close function. This allows the tailgate to shut automatically once the vehicle senses the driver walking way (Walkaway Close Switch has to be ON).
The RS, V and E variants come with a 7-inch Interactive TFT Meter Cluster and 8-inch Display Audio with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. However, rear air conditioning is standard across all four variants.
Honda has also given the new HR-V remote engine start and Walk Away Auto Lock, features that were absent on the outgoing mode. Hill descent Control or HDC is another useful feature that will help drivers maintain a safe speed while depending on a steep hill. But the best news of all is that the company’s SENSING technology is being made available across all four variants.

- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Low Speed Follow (LSF)
- Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN)
Last but not least, the new Honda HRV also comes with Honda CONNECT which is a system that applies smart telematics tech to offer greater safety, security and convenience.
The HR-V is being offered in five different colours: Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Ruse Black Metallic.
