Honda Launches WR-V, Its Smallest Crossover Vehicle Yet

Honda has finally launched its most versatile family crossover vehicle, the WR-V (Winsome Runabout Vehicle). Positioned below the HR-V, the new addition is a direct rival to Perodua’s Ativa, it comes in four trim levels, namely, RS, V, E and S.

Speaking of the launch, Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “We believe this Small SUV has a huge potential in the market and will strengthen Honda Malaysia’s strong presence in the Non-National SUV segment. We are confident that the All-New WR-V can appeal to young professionals and families who seek a Small SUV with a good value offering.”

Powering the all-new vehicle is a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces about 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. The powerplant is mated to a CVT transmission with G-design shift technology. Honda says that this combination allows for decent fuel economy while retaining a certain level of driving performance.

The RS variant, which is the most premium of the lot, gets a Mesh-Style Grille with silver chrome, silver painted lower garnish and 17” dual-tone alloy wheels. Honda has also given the WR-V a Trunk Spoiler, Shark Fin Antenna, Auto LED Headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED Front Fog Lights as well as Front LED Sequential Turn Signals.

Besides this, there’s also Power Retractable Door Mirror, Smart Entry with Push Start Button, Remote Engine Start and Walk Away Auto Lock. As for the interior, you get Auto Air Conditioning and Leather Seats. Then there’s a 7-inch Display Audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity, 6 Speakers, 4.2-inch TFT Meter Cluster and Paddle Shifts on the steering column.

Honda has also given the WR-V a slew of advanced safety features, which include the Honda LaneWatch, which is standard for all variants. Then, there’s Honda SENSING, which consists oof 8 safety functions, which are:

1. Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN)
2. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
3. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
4. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
5. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
6. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
7. Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
8. Auto High Beam (AHB)

Honda CONNECT, which offers added safety, security and convenience, is only available for the RS variant of the WR-V.
