Intel Brings NUC Flexibility To Laptops

Intel is bringing its NUC platform to the laptop space. The new NUC M15 Laptop Kit is aimed at small scale companies who do not have the resources or technical know-how to build their on product line. This way, Intel provides them with a blueprint and 2-year warranty, allowing them reduce overall costs and focus on marketing and customer service.

The NUC platform has been around for nearly a decade, mostly as small form factor PCs that can serve a variety of functions and applications. The appeal of the NUC extends beyond its size, and encapsulates the almost limitless hardware permutations that can be configured based on one’s needs.

But this happens to be the first time that the chipmaker has attempted to build a laptop kit that will serve a similar function to that of its small form-factor PC. Its anodized aluminum shell is machined as a single slab of metal not unlike laptops from Apple and Microsoft. Inside the NUC laptop is a Tiger Lake Intel processor that is supposed to offer improved performance and a massive 78Whr battery offering 16 hours of power.

Sadly, the NUC M15 Laptop Kit will not be available to the general consumer. Instead, Intel is marketing the kit to businesses that can’t afford or are unable to conduct their own R&D to create their own product. This way, Intel takes care of the engineering and production aspect of the product, while its customers focus on marketing them to the end user.

The kits will be available in January 2021, so expect to see various new brands pop up all over as they attempt to bring the NUC M15 to the market with our own personalized touch.
