As part of the deal between DHL Express (DHL) and Boeing, the company agreed to buy nine additional 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF). The additional 767-300BCF freighters represent DHL’s largest 767-300BCF order thus far, and will help the company expand its long-haul intercontinental fleet to meet rising global cargo demand.

DHL Express’ senior vice president of global air fleet management, Geoff Kehr, said, “The additional B767 freighters are part of our efforts to modernize DHL’s long-haul intercontinental fleet to fly eco-friendly and more cost-efficiently. Our goal is to provide better service for our partners while reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption simultaneously”.

Seven out of eight 767-300BCFs, which DHL has leased to partner airlines in the Middle East and Latin America, have been delivered to the company to support its growing regional networks.

Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, has stated that Boeing is pleased to see DHL’s fleet of 767-300BCF aircraft continuing to expand to meet its growing demand for cargo and logistics around the world.

The 767-300BCF is the world’s most efficient converted medium widebody aircraft and can transport up to 51,6 tonnes of freight over distances of 6,190 km (3,345 nautical miles). In addition to providing excellent payload and range capability, the 767 Freighters have the lowest operational costs.
