Microsoft is planning on rolling out the latest version of its web browser, Microsoft Edge on 15th January 2020. The new software wants to be the only browser you will ever need. The allure is in linking many of the companies productivity features and tools, which includes the updated Microsoft Search in Bing that looks to improve employee productivity.

Built on the Chromium engine, the same architecture that underpins Google’s venerable Chrome browser, the new Edge has improved privacy features, which gives users more control over tracking. Then there’s also helpful search tools for companies’ intranet, making it easier to find documents and information with Bing, Microsoft’s search engine.

The company plans on expanding this feature by utilizing Microsoft Search to connect Microsoft 365 customers with the addition of over 100 connectors including Salesforce.com, ServiceNow, Box and more, that will become available in 2020. Currently, Accenture, BA Insight and Raytion are already on-board. These connectors will help with Search’s usefulness to employees.

If the websites you frequent, or that you own, are supported by Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome, then they will probably be able to run on the current version of Microsoft Edge. And if it doesn’t, Microsoft says that it will help you fix the problem at no extra cost. This, they claim is a task no other company is willing to guarantee.

The Edge app is already available for download now, and Microsoft targets a full scale roll out by 15th January. Even the logo has been updated to reflect a three-layered wave that incorporates design elements from the original ‘e’ and Chromium. Unlike Chrome, Chromium is an open-source browser project aimed at a safer, faster and more stable web experience.
