PlayStation Initiative: Spotlight On 9 New Indie Games

Sony has revealed several new indie game titles that will be coming to the PS5 and PS4. Thie news is part of its indies initiative, where the company provides a platform for indie game developers to highlight what they have. Unlike mainstream outfits, indie ones are able to experiment with innovative gaming ideas that are usually deemed too risky by more prominent companies.

According to Shuhei Yoshida, head of PlayStation Indies, the program aims to shine a spotlight and support the best indie games in the market. The objective of this is to cultivate the PlayStation platform as the best place to develop, find and play indie games.

Speaking of this, Yoshida said, “We trust indie developers will continue to bring ideas that have never been tried before, creating whole new genres of games and advancing the art and meaning of video games.”

As of 1st July 2020, the following are the most recent indie games for the PS5 and PS4:

• Worms Rumble, real-time multiplayer action game for PS4 and PS5
• Haven, a chill co-op adventure for PS4 and PS5
• Carto, a puzzle adventure game for PS4
• Recompile, a hacking-themed game for PS5
• Where the Heart Is: A narrative adventure game , coming winter 2020 to PS4
• Maquette, a recursive world simulation & puzzle-making game
• F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow Torch, an action packed game for the PS4
• Heavenly Bodies is coming to PS5 and PS4
• Creaks, coming to PS4 this summer

  Sony will be also be publishing monthly news about the indie platform and games. And it hopes that its efforts will make the PlayStation game space, a diverse one, filled with a plethora of genres and titles. Admittedly, this is a noble task, one that will help relatively unknown yet interesting titles gain traction among avid gamers.
