Samsung has introduced the latest model to the T-series line-up, the T9, portable solid-state drive. The slender shape and curved diagonal lines make it look and feel more like a wallet than a hard drive. Its good looks are backed up by powerful hardware that allows for fast transfer speeds.

Speaking of the device, Hangu Sohn, Vice President of Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics, said, “With advances in high-resolution photos and the rising popularity of 4K videos, professional content creators now face the necessity of transferring large amounts of data on a frequent basis.”

The T9 delivers a maximum sequential read/write speed of 2,000 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) on the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface. This is about twice as fast as the previous T7 model and is equivalent to transferring a 4GB full HD video in about two seconds. It’s resistant to drops of up to 3 meters high and comes with a 5-year warranty.

Samsung’s T9 comes in three storage capacity options, which are 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. These T9s are meant to transfer large volumes of data in mere minutes, which is ideal for creators or who have the need to frequently move media files between devices. Choosing between the three depends on the needs of the individual.

Dynamic Thermal Guard is responsible for keeping the hardware temperature in check to minimize performance drops due to overheating. This is supposed to ensure consist of transfer speeds for extended periods of time. Samsung’s Magician software lets users get the most out of their T9. It offers features performance benchmark, security functions, firmware updates and real time health status check.

Samsung Magician Software 8.0, released last month, consolidates individual software such as data migration, PSSD software and Card authentication tool. It works on Windows, Mac and Android devices, which ensures that the T9 can be used across PCS, smartphones, tablets, and gaming consoles.

The T9 is available to purchase today and comes packaged with a USB Type C-to-C and SUB Type C-to-A cables.
