Samsung’s S22 Ultra Is Great For Filmmaking, Just Ask Millie Brown

April 29, 2022 Off By Rowena Cletus

Samsung’s S22 Ultra has some of the best cameras we’ve ever experienced in a smartphone. The quartet of sensors at the rear, which consists of a 108MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide and two 10MP telephoto ones, are able to capture pro level shots and footage. Presumably, this is why the company has gone out of its way to show users what they can do with little to no effort.

One such example is its recent Nightography experience. It let us into a dedicated space where it had created scenarios that you’re likely to encounter on a night out with friends or a romantic getaway with your better half. The S22 Ultra’s cameras work with AI technology to produce spectacular shots, even when there’s barely any ambient light to work with.

If you’re interested in knowing more about how the cameras perform at night, take a look at our Nightography article. We’ve also covered other topics that highlight some of the important aspects of the phone. Take a look at the following for more information:

Nightography is one of several ways Samsung is using to highlight the phone’s capabilities. The Korean electronics giant has also recently partnered with actress Millie Bobby Brown to help capture the essence of the movie making experience without the need for professional camera hardware and associated crew.

This short film was written, directed and produced by Brown herself and the footage was shot using just the S22 Ultra. The collaboration not only helped the young actress achieve her career goal of going behind the camera as a director, but gave Samsung the opportunity to convey to how capable the phone is when it comes to filmmaking.

It’s a two and half minute long clip that provides a glimpse into the trials and tribulations of women through the abstract lens of a ballet performance. It’s a captivating portrayal of the hardships of womanhood fraught with feelings of self-consciousness, low self-esteem and insecurity.

“I’m grateful to Samsung for giving me the opportunity to make my dream of directing into a reality. They invited me to take on this challenge and bring my vision to life. Plus, the Galaxy S22 Ultra was so fun to use – the video quality and nature of shooting on mobile made it easy to bring my ideas to life,” said Millie Brown.

She added, “This short film tells a deeply personal story, but it’s also a message for other young girls out there. I hope it empowers them to have the courage to express themselves and chase down their dreams.”

The camera movements and quality of footage looks like the work of professionals. Though some experience is needed for lighting and camera placements, with a little practice regular users can produce somewhat similar looking footage. We say this from experience. Let’s be clear. We aren’t insinuating that the phone is a replacement for a professional camera in the hands of an adept operator. Instead, it’s to stress that the S22 Ultra has the power to help novices to produce professional looking footage with very little effort.

This encapsulates the S22 Ultra’s photo and video taking abilities. It proves that a combination of powerful sensors, optical image stabilization tech and AI smarts are all that’s needed to put the power of filmmaking into the hands of the everyday person.
