Share Files Between Windows PCs and Android Phones Or Tablets
July 25, 2023 Off By Naveen VictorNearby Share is now officially available on Windows. Previously downloadable as a beta, it allows an easy way to share files between Windows PCs and Android phones, tablets as well as Chromebooks. The app has already been downloaded by 1.7 million people and has seen over 50 million files like photos and videos being transferred across multiple machines.
The official Nearby Share with Windows, which is available to download today, offers improved performance and functionality that makes it easier to share content. Differences between it and the beta version are subtle at best. But under the skin, it has improved overall speed and reliability. The update has helped reduce crashes and increased overall transfer success rate.
New features include estimated time for completion of file transfers. This could prove helpful when large file transfers are taking place. Image preview is now available within device notifications to help confirm that you’re transferring the correct file.
The Android team is working closely with PC manufacturers like HP to include the Nearby Share app on Windows PCs that they sell such as the HP Dragonfly Pro. It’s also been said that work will continue on Nearby Share For Windows in order to add new functionality based on feedback received from users.
