Sony Releases New Colors For PS5 Controllers

Sony has launched two new colour schemes for the current PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. Called Midnight black and Cosmic Red, both designs retain the blue hue surrounding the touchpad and the black portion surrounding the joysticks.

Midnight Black is said to have two ‘subtly’ different shades of black with light grey detailing. Sony says that this layout is supposed to reflect the view of space through the night sky. The more flamboyant Comic Red is inspire by the vivid shares of red found through the cosmos.

“We wanted the new controller colors to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console, so we designed the colors around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs,” said Leo Cardoso a member of the PlayStation design team.

These new colored controllers will be available to purchase starting next month. If you would like to know more about these colors, click here. Under these unique color schemes lies the same DualSense controller that was launched with the PlayStation 5 in November, 2020.

A stark departure from the DualShock controller of the PS4, the DualSense ones feature sophisticated tech that allow for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that are able to mimic the resistance/tension of a bow or similar weapon/action.

Supply shortages are responsible for the relative scarcity of the PS5 at local game shops. If you’ve managed to get your hands one one inspite of this problem, then count your blessings.
