The COVID-19 crisis seems to be subsiding in most countries. And as a result, businesses are beginning to reopen in many local communities. Google believes that through the use of its Maps app, we can do our part to support local businesses ride out this troubling economic climate.

Here’s what you can do to improve listings and support your favorite shops in the process:

#1 – Report Business That Have Re-opened
If a shop has reopened for business but the Google Maps app still lists the place as “Temporarily Closed”, users can click on said label and “Suggest an edit”. This will let Google know that a change is needed. Also, users can also report the change in operating hours of said businesses.

#2 – Crowd Sourced Reviews
This is the best time to share your experiences that you’ve had at places like restaurants to help others make an informed decision. Maps reviews can help businesses that you like, attract more customers and gain recognition in the process.

#3 – Online Classes
According to Google, many companies are shifting to online services. Due to social distancing requirements, many business are forced to seek alternative methods to compensate for reduced foot traffic. One such way is by offering online classes. Users can search for such courses through Maps by typing “piano lessons” or “Yoga classes near me”.

#4 – Support Local Businesses with Gift Card Or Donations
A little help can go a long way. One of several ways that you can help your favorite shops survive these uncertain times, is to purchase a gift card or leave a donation. This can help them with their cash flow and provide much needed moral support.

#5 – Know Where To Order Delivery Or Takeout
Many restaurants have pivoted to the food delivery business to compensate for their empty dining areas. But how would you know if your favorite place has such a service? Simple, just look for it within the app. Search for pickup, delivery or no-contact delivery options in Google Maps.
