WhatsApp’s Dark Mode Is Here

The wait is finally over, WhatsApp’s Dark Mode is now being rolled out to smartphones around the world. Previously, the messaging service limited access to this feature to select markets. That has now changed.

The company says that their Dark Mode theme’s colours help minimize eye fatigue. They chose a palette of colours that were close to that of the system defaults used on iPhones and Android devices respectively.

When accessing the newly introduced theme, users will notice that their actual chats standout from the background. This was done intentionally to help uses focus on the important bits.

Provided that you are running the latest version of WhatsApp on Android 9, once in the main menu, hit the three vertical dots located at the right top corner of the app. A drop down menu should then appear. Select Settings. A list of options should then be presented to you.

Select the Chats option. This will lead you to the final menu. At the top of said menu is a feature that wasn’t available before – Themes. Choose this, then toggle Dark Mode, ON. That’s it, the theme should change almost instantly. And this should provide your eyes with some much needed relief.

Users on Android 10 and iOS13 can skip this convoluted How-To method and enable dark mode in their respective system settings. WhatsApp should change its default theme accordingly.

Despite what many people might think, certain tests indicate that Dark Mode can save battery but your mileage may vary. Check out this article to see what we mean…..
