5 must have apps on your Android smartphone

Most of us consider our smartphones as the main computing device. You have more power in the palm of your hand than NASA did in 1969, when it sucessfully landed astronauts on the moon. However, all that power can only be put to good use if you have the right applications.

A smartphone is only as useful as the apps that it supports. Here are 5 apps you should have on your phone to accomplish a variety of tasks that include social media posts, breaking news and money management.

Here are the 5 apps you should have:

Open Camera
The camera app that came with your smartphone is good enough, but it could be better. Take the Samsung Galaxy A50 as an example. It has a 25-megapixel rear shooter that is capable of 4K video recording. But the Samsung camera app doesn’t allow this. That’s where Open Camera, an open source app comes in handy. It unlocks your device’s full potential and provides you with pro level setting adjustments.

Snapseed
Made by Google, Snapseed is one of the most intuitive photo editing app in the Play Store. And the interface is simple enough to understand. Its tools allow you to tune, crop, apply filters, insert text, change perspectives and accomplish several other editing features. It can be considered a pro-level photo editor for smartphones. I’ve been using it for years and have rarely encountered compatibility, performance or reliability issues.

Flipboard
Facebook isn’t the only place to get the news. Flipboard, is an app that compiles articles published by reputable media outlets from around the world. Tell it your interests, and it will do the rest to bring you the latest news and stories that are most relevant to you. There are several different categories to choose from as well. If you prefer to let Flipboard sort through what’s important, just select one of the preset categories. We suggest that you create an account for Flipboard. Don’t use your Google or Facebook accounts to login.

Money Manager
Let’s face it, money management isn’t our forte. But through the use of a money management app, we can curb our habit to overspend and plan our monthly expenditure properly. The money manager app allows users to tabulate expenses based on several predefined categories. It also provides a breakdown of monthly expenses, allowing you to keep tabs on your budget for the month. This data can also be analysed and compared from month to month.

Spotify
Last but not least, our favorite music app. Spotify has several competitors but for the Android platform, it’s the tried and tested option. It offers a plethora of genres and categories that cater to a variety of music tastes. The free version is good enough but you will need to deal with the intrusive ads. And as such, the paid versions are the better options, especially the family package, which is relatively affordable. As of now, the app is quite stable and easy to use.
