Canon has unveiled a funky new action camera that comes in several vibrant colours, which are Dragon fruit (Pink), Avocado (Green), Stone (Grey) and Riptide (Blue). It’s called the Canon IVY Rec, and its built to withstand a drop from 2 meters high and survive a dunk underwater at a depth of 2 meters for a period of 30 minutes.

Weighing in at a mere 90 grams, this lightweight camera is being marketed to younger generation thrill seekers who enjoy outdoor activities and want something that can take a beating but still keep going. It doesn’t have a screen either, the camera’s clip that allows it to attach to a bag or lanyard, also doubles as a viewfinder.

The Canon IVY Rec is a 13.0 Megapixel action cam that is able to shoot full HD videos at 1080p up to 60 frames per second. The device can be charged through USB but there’s no word yet on battery size or life on a single charge. Photos and clips are saved to the IVY Rec’s SD card, But you will still be able to access them without having to pull out the memory card.

Through the use of the Mini Cam app, your smartphone can connect via WiFi to the Canon camera itself for easy viewing and media downloads. The app, which is available for iOS and Android, is more than an image viewer, it also offers image editing and Remote Live View functions too, this adds to the camera’s user friendliness.

That’s not all, though WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, users can can also share their IVY Rec’s content on social media through the same Canon Mini Cam app. It’s an interesting device and we hope that it hits shelves very soon.
