GalaxyPlay Link streams PC games to Note 10

Samsung has good news for PC gamers. If you own a Galaxy Note 10, you now have the ability to stream your PC games on your smartphone. This can be achieved through the use of the PlayGalaxy Link, an app that needs to be download and installed on your PC and smartphone.

It’s a simplified mode of remote streaming and differs greatly from the principles used for cloud computing, which includes Google’s Stadia. The app links both devices through a P2P connection, negating the need for a relay server, and in turn, unintended frame drops. It also uses adaptive FPS, which helps improve connectivity in poor network environments.

That said, the gaming experience will still be limited by your network connection, and internet reliability provided by your ISPs. The app will work over Wi-Fi or mobile data (4G/5G), and as such, your gaming experience may worsen when entering an area with poor network coverage.

Since the PC is doing all the heavy-lifting, your Note 10 won’t heat up that quickly. As far as its concerned, all it’s doing is streaming content, like that from YouTube. This is an advantage Samsung thinks will be beneficial to mobile gamers. The app is compatible with a multitude of PC graphic cards, but your PC should have the following recommended specs:

Intel Core i5 or higher
8GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GTX 1060+ / AMD Radeon RX550+
Windows 10

The app is still in the beta phase, and as such, some teething issues are to be expected. It has been made available to users in South Korea, US, UK, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Singapore, and Russia. If you own the S10, download the MR software update. Then, you will be granted access to the PlayGalaxy Link app as well.

This same update will be rolling out to users of the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note9, and Galaxy A90 in early December 2019. Install the Play Galaxy app from www.playgalaxy.com
