Google Adds New Features For Pixel Phones

Google’s Pixel phones are the first to receive new and innovative features created for Android. And now that the company makes its own phones, it can carefully integrate software and hardware to create devices that can do just about anything.

This is what you can expect the newer ones to do:

Magic Eraser
Available within the Google Photos app, it allows you easily remove people in the background or change colour and brightness of an object to help it blend into said picture. This feature is available to all Pixel phones.

Direct My Call
Instead of having to go through automated menu options when you’re on a business call, the Direct My Call feature on Pixel 4a and newer phones, will let you see these menu options ahead of time so that you can get to the extension even faster than if you did it manually. It’s available for most popular toll-free numbers in the U.S.

Fitness Tracking
Pixel phones have Health Connect built-in. This allows you to store, connect and share data with compatible health and fitness apps. Google says that your data is stored on the device itself and provides you with the controls to manage it. This way, you won’t need to worry about other apps sharing your data or multiple fitness services running at the same time.

Set Timer Across All Pixel Devices
If you set a timer on a Nest device, the countdown will also be visible on your Pixel phone. You’ll also get push notification when said timer goes off so you can disable or extend it by a minute with a single tap.

Digital Car Key
For vehicles that support this feature, you can store your ultra-wideband digital car key on the Pixel phone. As long as you carry your phone with you and approach the respective car, you’ll be able to lock/unlock and start the engine without even taking it out of your pocket.
