Honda City Hatchback Is Available For Booking
November 13, 2021Honda has announced the availability of the City Hatchback. Based on the B-segment City Sedan, the new form factor is meant to entice a younger audience, eager to own a compact runabout. Slated for launch in Q4 of 2021, the new car features design aesthetics that are specific to said model.
Speaking of the new car Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Madoka Chujo said, “The introduction of the All-New City Hatchback is a key milestone for Honda in Malaysia as it is the first time the Company is offering the City model in a hatchback body type.”
The car is being offered with a hybrid (e:HEV) or conventional powertrain (Petrol). The former features a 1.5-litre i-MMD system that allows the petrol engine to work with two electric motors to provide better performance and efficiency. Power is rated at 109PS and 253Nm of torque while the conventional non-hybrid car makes do with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine with 121PS and 145Nm of torque.
Though the front of the car may not look dissimilar from its sedan counterpart, but the rear bumper and diffuser is specifically designed for it. For the higher RS trim level, the City Hatchback gets a high-gloss piano black front grill, black solid wing and gloss black door mirrors as well as RS exclusive look to the lower grill, fog garnish and a new rear bumper.
Honda says that the RS e:HEV and V variants of the City Hatchback will receive LED Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED front fog lights, LED rear combi lights and 16-inch wheels. These cars also get Remote Engine Start, which allows drivers to start the engine and turn on the air-conditioning system remotely.
The car also incorporates space saving features that were first introduced with the Honda Jazz. This includes the folding of the rear seats with four different configurations: Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh. Each is meant to facilitate various needs for rear storage space when transporting items.
The Honda City Hatchback is offered with several safety features but the RS e:HEV variant comes with the following Honda SENSING driver assistance safety systems:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
