Huawei and Sunrise team up for 5G expansion
October 15, 2019Huawei has teamed up with European telecoms company, Sunrise to build a class leading 5G network in Europe. The infrastructure will help provide better access of high speed wireless data transfers to companies in the region. This partnership has brought about a 5G Joint Innovation Centre in Europe that will enable both companies to work together and develop 5G applications for various sectors.
In this Joint Innovation Center, Huawei will operate an OpenLab that is said to be equipped with state-of-the-art tech. Developers will be able to make use of the facility and build 5G applications as well as test them under real 5G conditions. The Chinese tech giant will also provide IoT sensors and devices for the same test purposes, which will be an added advantage to iron-out compatibility issues.
Through this same tech, Sunrise is introducing the next generation of smartphone gaming. It will be able to offer customers 4K gaming solutions for devices that support 5G. The data speeds and low latency make the platform ideal for such demanding streaming tasks. In collaboration with Gamestream, Sunrise Game Cloud 5G app will be made available in November this year.
Sunrise is also working on a number of other projects that will benefit from 5G’s blazing fast transfer rates. Researchers will be able to test technologies that are designed to help farmers optimize cows’ milk production and feeding behavior. The goal, is to achieve the highest possible production under optimal animal welfare conditions.
Drone data can also be transmitted via 5G antennas to the cloud for processing, enabling farmers to have access to their data regardless of their location. In addition to this, the data will provide them with a better picture of their farms and allow them to determine the required needs such as the amount of fertilizer required to achieve maximum yield.
GF Machining Solutions, an international industrial company could also benefit immensely from Sunrise’s 5G Network. The uninterrupted data transmission of more than 1.1 Gbps can provide better production results on the factory floor. Facilities will be able to wirelessly and securely connect machines to their cloud services and infrastructure with minimal latency, cutting down on errors in the process.
Though the US has not been too happy with Huawei promoting its 5G tech stateside, some European nations however, have been far less critical of the Chinese telecommunication giant. Some see its willingness to contribute to the expansion of 5G infrastructure, as a good thing.
