Intel has announced that it is donating a further $6 million in additional funds to support the relief efforts in areas where the company has a strong operational presence. About $4 million of that total will be channeled to ongoing coronavirus relief efforts and the remaining $2 million is the ceiling limit that Intel will match of its employees’ own donations (March 26 to April 10).

The company says that the $4 million will be distributed to community foundations and organisations that are focused on food security, shelter, medical equipment and small business. The remaining $2 million will benefit food banks, school districts and children’s hospitals.

Donation areas in the U.S. include Arizona, California, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon and Texas. International donation areas include Costa Rica, India, Ireland, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico and Vietnam.

Said donations are in addition to the previously announced 1 million in medical gear, which include gloves face masks and other equipment to healthcare workers. Intel is also applying its tech in the field to help accelerate the analysis of genomic characteristics of COVID-19.
