LG’s New 4K Video Camera Is Meant For Healthcare Sector

LG’s new Smart Cam Pro (AN-VC22PR) is a 4K video camera designed for use in hospital and healthcare centers. Running WebOS, it’s a compact device with a foldable mount that is meant to be placed on or near a TV/display. The idea is to allow healthcare professionals to complete their rounds virtually, by having video calls with people in different rooms or facilities.

The Smart Cam Pro has a dark silver casing and gloss-black front. It incorporates a 4K RGB main camera and 4K night vision one. LG is marketing it as a device that can deliver sharp, clear image quality regardless of the lighting conditions. In fact, it’s supposed to be able to provide decent quality video even when the lights are turned off.

Its HDR effect allows the Smart Cam Pro to adjust color and contrast to make subjects easier to see, which is useful if there’s intense ambient lighting around them. Able to deliver 4K images and 4x digital zoom, the camera also has a manual privacy cover that can be used to block the main lens.

There’s also a built-in 4-way microphone system with echo cancellation and noise reduction. When a user accepts a video call, the Smart Cam Pro automatically switches the video feed from what’s being displayed to that of the camera feed. Once the call is completed, it then switches back to what was being watched before.

Powered by a Qualcomm system on chip (SoC) for IoT functionality, the camera offers a good video quality experience and Edge AI applications to help deliver a better healthcare solution to customers. The LG Smart Cam Pro will be introduced at ISE 2023, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from January 31 to February 3.
