This is a 49-inch curved display with a 32:9 aspect ratio. The company says it’s equivalent to placing two, 16:9 monitors together. Due to the 240Hz refresh rate, it’s supposed to produce smooth gameplay and decent picture quality that promises an immersive gaming experience.

Though marketed as a gaming monitor, the 49GR85DC, LG believes that it’s still suitable for productivity applications or for binge watching content. The wider field of view should be ideal for multitasking office or multimedia editing tasks.

The monitor has a QHD resolution (5,120 x 1,440) with a 1000R curvature. It’s also VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and has a 3000:1 contrast ratio. LG says that it peaks at 1000-nits of brightness, which allows for vivid colors and deep blacks.

There’s support for Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) modes. The former allows you to display content from a second connected device as a floating window over what’s being shown over the primary feed. The latter allows you to divide the screen into two discrete sections.

LG has also given the monitor LED hexagon backlighting to “enhance” the gaming experience. The monitor supports DTS headphone:X that provide a 3D sound experience when connected with wired headphones. There’s also DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 to properly supply the required output needed for the QHD video feed.

The UltraGear gaming monitor is available to purchase in the U.S. now but will be launching in Europe later this month and sometime later in the year for Asia.
