SmartThings Can Control A Variety Of Samsung Products

Samsung SmartThings comes with a protocol that allows users to control Matter-enabled devices through their Samsung devices. Samsung announced this integration of Matter at its recent Developer Conference. Through SmartThings, Samsung’s Galaxy devices, TVs, and Family Hub appliances will have the most versatile connectivity options.

The Matter platform was introduced earlier this year by more than 180 companies and has transformed the smart home industry. Matter wants to become the standard for connected home automation in every home, offering consumers flexibility, interoperability, and more choices.

The SmartThings platform allows consumers with existing smart homes to seamlessly integrate new devices into their homes by supporting multiple protocols, including Zigbee, Z-Wave, and now, Matter. This makes SmartThings one of the most versatile platforms on the market. Additionally, it allows developers to focus on creativity while reducing the amount of time spent on replicating efforts across various ecosystems.

“SmartThings hub functionality will be integrated into Samsung TVs, appliances, and Galaxy devices to make it easier for users to experience connected living without having to buy additional hardware. Additionally, adding Matter support to SmartThings will only increase the variety of devices that can be connected as Matter-enabled devices flood the market next year,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Samsung’s VP of SmartThings.

SmartThings has always functioned as a glue that binds devices across brands and platforms in the connected home. As one of the largest integrated ecosystems, SmartThings’ open platform lets developers, devices, and services work together. Connected living innovations across multiple use cases are possible with SmartThings thanks to its certified brands and millions of active users.

Samsung will use Matter on a wide range of products starting in 2022 as the new standard becomes available and integrates fully with SmartThings.
