The Face Of Loneliness With WhatsApp

December 12, 2021 Off By Rowena Cletus

This Christmas, WhatsApp and the Jo Cox Foundation’s Connection Coalition are encouraging people to reconnect with friends and family by smashing the stigma surrounding loneliness. A campaign that is led by celebrities who defy stereotypes about loneliness, #FaceOfLoneliness makes a point of showing loneliness affects people of all ages, from all walks of life.

Among the celebrities who are joining the campaign to dismantle stereotypes is Vogue Williams, Nick Grimshaw, Ovie Soko, Eden Harvey, and Judi Love. The campaign aims to encourage Brits to check in with friends and family via WhatsApp chat or find the support they need via the Loneliness Advice chatbot.

A Loneliness Advice Chatbot from the Connection Coalition and WhatsApp is a simple and secure way for people to obtain reliable and anonymous advice and support in tackling loneliness from trusted organizations.

“Staying connected to each other even when we are apart is made possible by technology. Due to so many people feeling lonely this Christmas, we know it will be a difficult season. The difficulties will not be limited to the people you might expect. Our goal is to inspire the two billion WhatsApp users to join us in making Christmas less lonely for others by showing the many faces of loneliness. Reach out and reconnect with old friends. You never know when someone might need a word of encouragement,” said Kathryn Harnett, Policy Manager at WhatsApp
