WhatsApp is about to revolutionize how you shop for your favorite items. An entry published on its blog site revealed that the messaging app will include a feature called Catalogs for Small Businesses. It provides users with the necessary details of business establishments and the goods that that they carry.

Unlike the old days when shop owners had to spam individual user accounts with their latest products, now, there’s an easier way to make their business known. It’s like the Yellow Pages of the digital age. Companies can catalog their businesses and products that they carry within the WhatsApp Business app itself – no more accidentally visiting unscrupulous web stores.

These listings will be searchable by everyone on the platform who wish to know more about said store. WhatsApp says that this feature acts as a mobile storefront for businesses to showcase what they offer. Users can easily browse and discover this information without exiting the chatting app, which allows for better customer engagement.

Catalogs will help circumvent the tedium of Google searches for company websites online. There’s no longer the need to meander past pointless ads and spoofing sites before discovering what you want. Now, there’s almost zero chance of Aunt Betsy mistakenly visiting a smut site when in search of an undergarment store.

For each item in a business’s catalog, the company can add information on pricing, description and product code. WhatsApp hosts these catalogs to save valuable storage space on phones of business owners and their customers. Creating a catalog is easy, WhatsApp has made a simple walkthrough video which can be viewed below.

The Catalog feature is available to businesses that use the WhasApp Business App in Brazil, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S for now. But the company says that it will eventually be offered to other countries around the world soon. The app is available for both Android and iOS business users.
