True to its word, Xiaomi has launched two variants of its high-end smartphones in China. The Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom edition, in essence, are identical devices safe for the latter’s rear camera, which features a 30x digital zoom.

Measuring 8.9mm thick, the Redmi K30 Pro isn’t the most slender of smartphones, but its curves and chamfered edges give it an aesthetically pleasing look. The circular camera setup sports a symmetrical design, featuring a wide (Sony IMX686), ultra wide, macro and depth sensors respectively.

At the front is a 6.67-inch full HD AMOLED display that helps the Redmi K30 Pro achieve a 92.7% screen-to-body ratio. This can calso be attributed to the decision to tuck the selfie camera into motorized mechanism mounted within the phone’s top section, that pops up vertically when needed.

And true to its name, the K30 Pro features the top of the line Snapdragon 865 clocked at 2.84Ghz. Depending on the configuration, the phones are either fitted with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The same is true of the storage, which is either 128GB or 256GB.

Xiaomi says that both phones have UFS 3.1 flash storage which allows for a maximum sequential read and write speeds of 777MB/s. Also, since these are performance oriented devices, each has a 3,435mm² vapor chamber (VC) cooling system, a large multi-layer graphite, and 9 built-in temperature sensors.

Other worthy mentions include a 3.5mm headphone jack, infrared remote control, 4-axis optical image stabilization, in-screen optical finger print sensor and a respectable 4,700mAh battery with support for fast charging. There four body color options to choose from: Skyline Blue, Lunar White, Space Grey AG, Interstellar Purple AG.

The Redmi K30 Pro is available for purchase in three variants: 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB, priced at RMB 2,999, RMB 3,399 and RMB 3,699 respectively. And the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition is available in two variants: 8GB+128GB and 8GB+235GB at RMB 3,799 and RMB 3,999 respectively.

There’s no word yet on when these phones will hit international markets, but we hope that it happens sooner rather than later. Xiaomi is known for producing flagship killers with affordable price tags, and we hope that that’s the case with the Redmi K30 Pro.
