Acer has just unveiled the latest iteration of its travel friendly laptops – TravelMate P6 and Spin P6. The company promises up to 20 hours of battery life and support for quick charge, which makes them extremely convenient for people who are constantly on the move.

Measuring only 0.6 inches (16.8mm) thick, both laptops are thin enough to slip into just about any backpack. The Spin P6 weighs 1kg (2.2 pounds) while the P6 is slightly heavier at 1.1kg (2.4 pounds). Acer says that he chassis is made from magnesium-aluminum alloy, which is supposed to be lighter yet stronger than standard aluminium alloy of the same thickness.

Corning Gorilla Glass lines the touchscreen display, which should make the Spin P6 a more robust machine, regardless of the orientation it is held in. That said, both get the latest 11th Gen Core i7 vPro chips and up to 32 GB DDR4x RAM. They can be configured with a 1TB PCIe Gen3 SSD with NVMe technology.

Acer also claims that the new P6 are compliant with MILD-STD 810H U.S. military grade standards. This means that the P6 is rated to survive bumps and accidental drops. It has also been tested to have resistance to pressure, rain, humidity and extreme temperatures.

“The new Acer TravelMate Spin P6 is ideal for professionals who spend significant time in meetings, having been built with modes that enhance notetaking and drawing, showcasing presentations, signing contracts and sharing videos,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.

All new models have dual speakers for crystal-clear videoconferencing, while a four-mic array picks up vocals from up to 6.5 feet away and enables quick and accurate voice commands. The 14-inch, 16:10 FHD+ (1920 x 1200) display with narrow bezels provides extra screen real estate. It’s an IPS panel with 100% sRGB color gamut coverage delivering accurate colors at up to 170 degree viewing angles.

The P6 also gets user sensing tech, which allows it to detect the presence of someone who approaches it and through the use of Windows Hello, can recognize authorised users and unlock the display. Other stuff include Wi-Fi 6 and optional 5G connectivity. But you get USB 3.2 gen 2 type-C thunderbolt 4, MicroSD and NFC as standard.

The Acer TravelMate P6 (TMP614-52) will be available in North America in December, starting at USD 1,299.99; in EMEA in September, starting at EUR 999; and in China in August, starting at RMB 6,999.
