Google’s AR approach toward education has made learning about history and nature, far more entertaining than conventional tools would allow. Several months ago it introduced an app that allowed us to take a virtual stroll through museums and witness the many exhibits as though we were there in person.

Now, its done the same for the Australian wildlife. But this time, the AR feature is baked into the Search app itself. With AR on Google, you have the ability of meeting 8 life-sized animals, and bring them into your world. This can be done by searching for koala, kangaroo, quokka, wombat, platypus, emu, kookaburra or echidna with Search or your web browser.

In the search results, the corresponding picture will be displayed along with the option of viewing the animal in 3D. Selecting this, will bring up an animation of the respective animal along with relevant information. It can be viewed from multiple angles by moving the animal about. By selecting “View In Your Space”, the animal is brought into your world.

Google uses your phone’s camera to map the corresponding animal into your environment with the help of its AR (Augmented Reality) technology. It’s both educational and entertaining at the same time, which aims to educate & entertaining users. It’s also a way to spread awareness about the bushfires that have ravaged the Australian wildlife.

Learn more about the Aussie outback and the animals that inhabit the areas, by searching for Aussie AR animals with Google Search. This is one of several tools the company has used to to make quarantine life, better. Since COVID-19 has hampered travelling abilities, Google is attempting to bring the world to us.
