Google has rolled out a new update for Chrome OS, which adds two new improvements to Family Link on Chromebooks. The first is granting access to Chrome Web store extensions for kids and the other, is per-app limits for Google Play apps.

In case you didn’t know, Family Link is an app that allows parents better control over their kids’ screen time across Android phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. Through the use of their phones, parents can also set restrictions on which websites their kids can visit, set device time limits, and approve and install apps from the Google Play Store.

The ever growing number of Chrome extensions offer better productivity options especially during these lockdowns. But, before kids are allowed to personalize Chrome and use tools like Zoom and Screencastify, their parents will need to approve their use, first.

In regard to screen time, parents can set per-app time limits for Play Store apps. This takes parental supervision to a whole new level. Now, there’s less need to have one eye on your kids’ screens and the other on your own work.

If you’re interested but are unfamiliar with the Family Link app, first download it from the Google Play store and read this tutorial to find out how to set things up.
