Helpful Google Maps Features Are Coming Soon
November 18, 2020 Off By Naveen VictorGoogle has been hard at work updating features within its Maps application to make it easier for us to commute and get more done during the journey. Since the pandemic began earlier this year, the company has added close to 250 new features and improvements to help us adjust to the new “normal”.
Stay Informed
Google Maps is primarily used as a navigation tool, but the Search giant has also added a COVID layer, that feeds critical information about COVID-19 to nearly 10 million users, directly from the app. In the coming weeks more features will be added including all-time detected cases in areas and quick links to COVID resources.
Crowd Alerts
Wearing a mask and adhering to social distancing guidelines can dramatically reduce our chances of being infected by COVID-19. But, there are instances where you can’t foresee crowd size and thus fail to maintain a safe distance with those around you. The Maps app can give you live updates on crowd information on your bus, train and subway.
Get Food Information
Available in the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Brazil and India, Google Maps has the ability to inform you when your food is ready to be picked up. It can also provide you with food delivery information and when you can expect your order at your doorstep. Once we clear the COVID-19 hurdle, the app will also provide restaurant reservation information.
Get Help With The Assistant
Only available in the US for now, you can ask the Google assistant to complete certain tasks directly from the Google Maps app. This negates the need to to take your eyes off the road to get something done on your phone. You can also play media from a variety of sources that include YouTube, Spotify and Google Podcasts.
