We are approaching the end of 2019 and Google would like us to look back and appreciate the good that still exists in the world. According to its global search results, the word “Hero” was searched three times more than “Villain”. This was due in part to the Avengers: Endgame movie hat premiered earlier this year.

In addition to this, in the US alone, searches for “how to become a first responder” reached an all-time high. This perfectly describes the selfless nature of humanity in the midst of great peril and uncertainty. Our willingness to place the needs of others before our own, speaks volumes of our true character.

Google has provided a list of the top searches this year, which portrays a clearer picture of the stories that were most important to us. Check out the list below to see what we mean. For the full list of searches, visit Google’s trending page.

Megan Rapinoe was also one of the top trending athletes globally, and several other leading ladies made the list too. Also, the word “sheroes” an abbreviation for “She Heroes” increased 150 percent compared to last year, which was probably due in part, to the first all-female crew that completed the spacewalk earlier this year.

Despite the many conflicts and disputes that have transpired over the course of this year, we are able to find solace in these difficult times due to the many selfless acts of our fellow men and women. There is still hope for humanity yet….
