Never lose that pesky bag ever again!
February 4, 2020Never lose anything important ever again! This is a slight exaggeration of the Google Assistant’s new feature, but it comes quite close. The company’s Voice Assistant for the Nest, can now communicate with Tile trackers. In case you didn’t know. Tile makes some of the best Bluetooth trackers that fit a variety of applications.
Tile’s Bluetooth trackers can be placed on just about anything, which include handbags, backpacks, keys and remotes. If you happen to have misplaced any of said items, just ‘ring it’ from the smartphone app. The respective device will then spring to life to alert you of its presence.
Google’s Voice Assistant on a Nest, takes this a step further. All you have to do is say, “Hey Google, ring my laptop” or “Hey Google, make my backpack ring” or, you can ask the location of your Tile by saying: “Hey Google, where is my purse” or “Hey Google, find my passport.”
This will prompt the Nest to respond accordingly. But for information on a Tile’s last known location, and example of a response would be, “Your keys were last seen today at 9pm near the Kitchen speaker.” This feature is definitely a godsend for those of us who in the habit of misplacing things.
If a Tile is outside the house, the Assistant will inform you of the street address of where your Tile was last seen based on Tile’s location services. Google says any Nest device, which include the Nest Mini or Nest Hub can be used with the Voice Assistant to communicate with a Tile.
If you would like to activate this feature on your nest, open the Google Home app to set up your Tile with the Google Assistant!
